Work-ready listings cost little extra
On 6 October 2026, 36 priced rentals named a home office or workspace in their title, all from one partner agency that writes its titles that way, mostly in Canggu (15), Mengwi (8) and Uluwatu (7). At two and three bedrooms they asked about the same as everything else — IDR 38.5 million against IDR 40 million for a 2-bedroom, IDR 55 million against IDR 53 million for a 3-bedroom — so in this data a listing that advertises a workspace carries no measurable premium.
What to check before you sign
For remote work the lease checklist gains three lines. Test the internet in the evening, at the villa, on the line you will actually use: the advertised speed is shared bandwidth and evening congestion is the common complaint. Ask about power: outages happen, particularly in the wet season, and some villas keep a generator. And settle the visa before the lease: renting needs only lawful presence, but a year-long lease on a 30-day entry is a gamble on extensions.
- Run a speed test at 8pm, on the villa’s own line.
- Ask which provider and plan the villa has, and who pays to upgrade it.
- Check where the router is relative to the room you will work in.
- Price a mobile-data or Starlink backup before you need it.
